CLAPIN VINCE LA QUINTA EDIZIONE DI X_SCIENCE: CINEMA TRA
SCIENZA E FANTASCIENZA Si è conclusa all’Acquario di Genova con grande successo all’alba di Domenica 28 marzo la quinta edizione di X_Science: Cinema tra Scienza e Fantascienza, manifestazione cinematografica promossa dal Genova Film Festival e dalla Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e Naturali dell’Università di Genova. Durante la serata conclusiva, prima della ormai tradizionale Notte della Fantascienza (quest’anno dedicata a Jules Verne) sono stati proclamati i vincitori del Concorso Internazionale di Cortometraggi, tra i diciassette finalisti provenienti da tutto il mondo. I film si sono contesi tre premi: il Premio per il Miglior Film, assegnato da una giuria composta dalla produttrice Gioia Avvantaggiato, dal matematico Anthony Vito Geramita, dalla saggista Laura Ginatta, dalla regista Enza Negroni e dal futurologo e scrittore Karlheinz Steinmüller, l’X_Faculty Award assegnato da un gruppo di studenti e professori della Facoltà di Scienze M.F.N. dell’Università di Genova e il Premio del Pubblico assegnato dagli spettatori in sala nel corso della manifestazione. La giuria ufficiale ha premiato il film d’animazione Skhizein di Jeremy Clapin (Francia) “Per l’originalità della sceneggiatura, che dà spazio anche ad un sottile senso ironico; per lo sviluppo dell’idea, che fornisce spunti per molteplici interpretazioni e livelli di significato; per la scelta del segno grafico, pulito ma di grande impatto e per l’utilizzo di un insieme di tecniche di animazione diverse ma funzionali alla perfetta realizzazione della storia e del personaggio” E, per la prima volta nei cinque anni della manifestazione, anche il pubblico si è trovato in accordo con la giuria assegnando il suo Premio a Skhizein. Il film è la storia tragicomica di un uomo che, colpito da un meteorite ISO-ton, si deve adattare a vivere a 91 cm di distanza da se stesso. La giuria ha anche deciso di assegnare due menzioni speciali: al documentario Vivid Dreams, Looking for Arthur C. Clarke di Stefano Rebechi, intenso ritratto dello scrittore e scienziato Arthur C. Clarke e documento eccezionale sulle ultime dichiarazioni prima di morire dello scrittore di 2001: Odissea nello spazio e Protoparticulas dello spagnolo Chema Garcia Ibarra, già noto ad X_Science per avere presentato nella precedente edizione El ataque de los robots de nebulosa-5. E Protoparticulas ha ottenuto anche anche l’X_Faculty Award per “la chiarezza nel percorso seguito dalla narrazione nel dimostrare la visione dell'autore, per l'affascinante teoria resa accattivante dalla modalità d'espressione e per l'originalità del tema rafforzata dal report che ciclicamente unisce futuro, presente e passato”. Grande soddisfazione è stata espressa dagli organizzatori per la forte presenza di pubblico che ha seguito la manifestazione: grande interesse hanno suscitato gli incontri con i registi e gli scienziati, la scelta dei film in concorso e nelle sezioni collaterali e la conferenza sulla futurologia di Steinmüller. La quinta edizione di X_Science: Cinema tra Scienza e Fantascienza è stata organizzata con il contributo di Regione Liguria – Assessorato alla Spettacolo, e con la collaborazione di Acquario di Genova e Comune di Genova. |
SKHIZEIN BY THE FRENCH DIRECTOR
JEREMY CLAPIN WON THE FIFTH EDITION OF X_SCIENCE: CINEMA BETWEEN SCIENCE AND SCIENCE-FICTION. The fifth edition of X_SCIENCE: Cinema between Science and Science-Fiction, promoted by Genova Film Festival and by the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences of the University of Genoa ended very successfully at the sunrise of Sunday 28th March, in the beautiful environment of the Aquarium of Genoa. Before the traditional Night of Science-Fiction (this year dedicated to Jules Verne), the winners of the International Short Movies Competition have been awarded and chosen among seventeen finalists from all over the world. There were three awards: Best Movie Award assigned by the judging panel (producer Gioia Avvantaggiato, mathematician Anthony Vito Geramita, essayist Laura Ginatta, director Enza Negroni and futurologist and writer Karlheinz Steinmüller), X_Faculty Award assigned by a jury of students and Professors of the Faculty of Mathematics, Physics and Natural Sciences of the University of Genoa and the Audience Award assigned by the viewers who voted the movies. The Official Judging Panel assigned the Best Movie Award to Skhizein the animation movie by Jeremy Clapin (France): “For the originality of the screenplay which leaves room to a subtle irony; for the development of the idea which remains open to many interpretations and levels of meaning; for the graphics choice, simple but of strong impact and for the usage of diverse animation techniques but integrated to a perfect creation of story and character.” The viewers agreed with the jury, for the first time in five years, giving Skhizein the Audience Award. The movie tells the story of a man who, hit by an ISO-ton meteorite, has to get used to live 91 cm away from himself. The Judging Panel also decided to assign two special awards: to the documentary Vivid Dreams, Looking for Arthur C. Clarke by Stefano Rebechi, intense portrait of scientist and writer Arthur C. Clarke (writer of 2001: Space Odissey) and amazing record of his last public interview and to Protoparticulas by Chema Garcia Ibarra (Spain) who presented last year El ataque de los robots de nebulosa-5. Protoparticulas also obtained the X_Faculty Award “for the clarity of the path followed by narration in displaying the author’s vision, for the fascinating theory made enthralling by its rendering and for the originality of the topic strengthened by the report cyclically uniting future, present and past.” The organizers expressed their satisfaction for the great response and considerable affluence of public. The meetings with directors and scientists, the selection of competing and non-competing movies and the conference about futurology by Steinmüller all obtained great interest and audience response. The Fifth Edition of X_Science: Cinema between Science and Science-Fiction has been organized with the contribution of Regione Liguria – Assessorato allo Spettacolo and with the cooperation of the Aquarium of Genova and the Municipality of Genova. |

Dear festival organisator, jury and of course audience, It's of course a real honour to get this distinction. Every member of the team had work hard on the film to keep it both poetical and mathematical and it's a big success for me than it was appreciate. Of course you can blame me to not be able to attend the ceremony. That's not my fault, I'm still waiting for an asteroid ... sorry meteorite which can expedite me to Genoa in 1 seconde but it doesn't come. comune della
Facoltà di Scienze Matematiche, Fisiche e
Naturali dell’Università di Genova
e del
GENOVA FILM FESTIVAL. X_Science raccoglie in sé,
quindi, una duplice anima scientifica ed artistica votata alla
valorizzazione della cultura scientifica attraverso il cinema e alla
promozione delle arti visive focalizzate sulla fantascienza. |
The
X_Science project: Cinema from Science to Science Fiction has come about due to the
common commitment of the
Mathematical,
Physical and Natural (M.P.N.) Sciences faculty of the University of
Genoa and of the
GENOVA FILM FESTIVAL.
So, X_Science has both a scientific and an artistic heart aimed at
enhancing the value of scientific culture through the cinema and by
promoting visual arts focussed on science fiction. |
