E90-1248 è addetto allo smistamento del materiale da
costruzione di una delle due torri, poste l'una di fronte
all'altra, situate in una immensa distesa d'acqua. La sua
vita è dedicata alla costruzione della torre, perché il
livello dell'acqua sta salendo. A causa di un incidente,
E90-1248 si ritrova in uno dei piani più bassi dell'edificio
dove sono ammassate tutte le persone che non possono essere
ospitate nei piani alti della torre. Qui E90-1248 viene a
conoscenza del fatto che la torre è destinata
all’autodistruzione e che lui è l’unico in grado di salvare
l’umanità dall’estinzione.
Christian Schleisiek, 1980, Bonn (Germania). Si è
laureato in Scienze Applicate presso l’Università Mainz FH e
si è diplomato in Media-Design nel 2008. Christian non è
solo regista, ma anche sceneggiatore e produttore oltre che
supervisore della manutenzione in un orfanotrofio. Babylon
2084 è il suo settimo cortometraggio.

E90-1248 is working as a sorter of building material in one
of two towers which are facing each other in an endless
expanse of water. His life is dedicated to the growth of the
tower, because the water level is rising.
When an accident happens, he finds himself in the bottom
storey of the building, a place where all those people are
shunted off to, whom the upper storey of the tower can no
longer accommodate. E90-1248 becomes aware of the fact that
the tower is well on its way to destroy itself and that he
is the only person able to save the human race from
perishing.
Christian Schleisiek, 1980, Bonn (Germany). Graduated
from the FH Mainz University of Applied Sciences with a
diploma in Media-Design in 2008. He is not just a director,
but also a producer, screenwriter and a maintenance
supervisor in an orphanage. Babylon 2084 is his seventh
short film.

Il professore di matematica AG Bowers è ossessionato dal
risolvere la mitica Congettura di Goldbach, insoluta da ben
250 anni. Ad un certo punto l’uomo comincia a ricevere
lettere misteriose che suggeriscono una soluzione al
problema, cosa che lo induce a credere che il sogno di una
vita sia finalmente a portata di mano.
Dan Clifton è un
apprezzato filmaker, scrittore e giornalista, riconosciuto
per la sua capacità di raccontare e il suo stile originale e
all’avanguardia. Dan ha realizzato diversi documentari per
BBC, Channel Four e varie emittenti internazionali.
Attualmente si sta concentrando sulla scrittura e sta
sviluppando diversi progetti come sceneggiatore e regista,
destinati sia al cinema che alla televisione. La sua prima
sceneggiatura Castle Robin, sostenuta da Screen South, è
stata selezionata fra oltre 300 iscritte al prestigioso
programma di sviluppo Equinoxe TBC script.

Mathematics Professor AG Bowers is obsessed with solving the
fabled 250 years old Goldbach Conjecture. The arrival of a
series of mystery letters hinting at a solution lead Bowers
to believe his lifelong dream may at last be within reach.
Dan Clifton is an
acclaimed film-maker, writer and journalist, recognised for
his powerful story-telling and cutting edge visuals. Dan has
made a number of documentaries for the BBC, Channel Four and
international broadcasters. Dan is now moving into scripted
drama, and has been developing a number of projects as
Writer / Director aimed at both the cinema and television.
Dan’s first screenplay Castle Robin (supported by Screen
South) was selected from over 300 entries for the
prestigious Equinoxe TBC script development programme. The Calculus of Love is his first short film.

short films director but he worked also as photographer
assistant in New York, actor, script writer for short and

Paul Campion è nato in Inghilterra nel 1967. Ha
iniziato la sua carriera come illustratore freelance
lavorando nella pubblicità e nell’editoria in Gran Bretagna.
Prima di diventare regista, Paul ha lavorato a San
Francisco, Londra e in Nuova Zelanda in vari film come
Costantine, Sin city, 30 giorni di buio, Le Cronache di
Narnia; ha inoltre lavorato agli effetti visivi della
trilogia Il Signore degli Anelli di Peter Jackson.
Attualmente Paul è in postproduzione con un film horror
ambientato durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, con l’ausilio
della Film Commission della Nuova Zelanda e con la
collaborazione di Weta Workshop, una compagnia
pluripremiata, anche con l’Oscar. |

Zeland on films such as Costantine, Sin City, 30 days of
Night, The Chronicles of Narnia; he also worked on the
visual effects for Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings
trilogy. Paul is currently in post production on The Devil’s
Rock, a WW2 horror feature film co-founded by the New
Zealand Film Commission by Oscar winning Weta Workshop.

Javier Ideami è nato a Oviedo (Spagna) nel 1980. È un
artista multidisciplinare ed è il fondatore degli Ideami
Studios. Grazie ai suoi studi in campo sia artistico che

Two sisters try to outsmart each other as they attempt to
figure out why and which one of them will be sent away by
their father after their mother’s death. In the process,

Javier Ideami was born in Oviedo (Spain) in 1980.
He’s a multidisciplinary artist and founder of Ideami
Studios. With studies in both artistic and technical fields,
Javier has been working for years blending the arts and the
sciences, receiving numerous awards for his work across
different disciplines.

David Alapont è nato in Francia nel 1976. Nel 2002 si
laurea presso l’Ecole Nationale Supérior des Arts Décoratifs
dirigendo L’Aguille (The Needle), premiato come miglior
cortometraggio al FIKE. Ha lavorato come animatore,
illustratore e story boarder in film, serie Tv, pubblicità e
video musicali. Attualmente è impegnato nella lavorazione di
un libro a fumetti scritto da Meewan Chabone.
Luis Briceno è nato in Cile nel 1971. Nel 1992 si
trasferisce in Francia per studiare ingegneria civile. In
seguito si dedica a studi in campo cinematografico e da
allora lavora come tecnico del suono per film d’animazione,
regista e cantante. I suoi cortometraggi mescolano
animazione, pupazzi, live-action e tecniche sperimentali.
Tra le sue opere: Caged Birds Cannot Fly, Billy the Killy.
Il suo Adieu General ha ricevuto riconoscimenti in diversi
festival. |

In a near future, the world seems to work in a perfect and
controlled way…
David Alapont was born in France in 1976. He
graduated in 2002 at the “Ecole Nationale Supérior des Arts
Décoratifs” directing L’Aguille (The Needle), film that won
the best short film award at the FIKE. He worked as animator,
illustrator and story boarder in films, TV series,
advertising and music videos. He’s now working on a
comic-book written by Meewan Chabone.
Luis Briceno was born in Chile in 1971. He arrived in
France in 1992 to study civil engineering following on with
studies in film and sound for cartoons. He then continued as
an acoustic designer for animation films, film director and
singer. His short films mash up animation, puppets, live
action and experimental techniques: Caged Birds Cannot Fly,
Billy the Killy. Adieu General has been nominated in several
festivals.

un anziano signore fa un pericoloso e illegale viaggio
indietro nel tempo per evitare un tragico evento che lo
perseguita da decenni. La sua storia è alternata a quella di
Doug, un dodicenne la cui ossessione di incontrare il suo io
futuro lo porta ad essere emarginato dai compagni di classe.
Erik Courtney, Miami,
Florida. Si è laureato in Cinema presso la Columbia
University e ha conseguito un Master presso la UCLA's
Graduate School of Film and Television. Ha lavorato allo
sviluppo di progetti presso la Lightstorm Entertainment di
James Cameron's che ha in seguito lasciato per dedicarsi
totalmente alla carriera di regista e scrittore. Prima di
Forecast ha diretto The Persistence of Dreams, un
cortometraggio di Quattro minuti che racconta in tempo reale
l’assassinio di Abramo Lincoln. The Persistence of Dreams
è la sola ricostruzione cinematografica che ha avuto
l’autorizzazione ad essere ambientata proprio all’interno
del Ford's Theatre e considerate dagli studiosi una delle
interpretazioni più accurate di quell’evento storico.

An old man embarks on a dangerous and illegal trip back in
time to undo a tragic event that has haunted him for decades.
The old man’s journey into the past is juxtaposed with the
story of Doug, a twelve year-old whose obsession with
meeting his future-self causes him to be ostracized by his
classmates.
Erik Courtney, Miami,
Florida. He received a bachelor's in Film Studies from
Columbia University and a Master's from UCLA's Graduate
School of Film and Television, shortly thereafter. He worked
in feature development at James Cameron's Lightstorm
Entertainment. Erik left Lightstorm to pursue a full-time
career as a writer and director. Prior to Forecast,
he directed The Persistence of Dreams, a four-minute,
real-time depiction of Abraham Lincoln's Assassination – the
only recreation in history that has been allowed to be
filmed inside Ford's Theatre, considered by scholars to be
the most accurate interpretation of the assassination to
date. Erik is currently developing several other projects,
including a feature-length version of Forecast.

Una equipe di ricercatori sta sezionando quella che sembra
una semplice collina. L’esame è eseguito con tale
convinzione e reverenza nei confronti di qualcosa di tanto
terreno, che l’intero processo sembra quasi assurdo.
L’attenzione del film si focalizza sulle azioni e sulle
tecniche adottate; attraverso l’osservazione e utilizzando
semplici strumenti di misurazione, gli scienziati
documentano le loro scoperte, comunicando fra loro a gesti e
borbottii. A metà strada tra il documentario scientifico e
la finzione, quest’opera riflette su come gli uomini
inventino metodi per conoscere il mondo che li circonda.
Semiconductor è una coppia di artisti (Ruth Jarman e
Joe Gerhardt) che esplora la natura materiale del nostro
mondo e come ci relazioniamo ad essa, chiedendosi quale sia
il nostro posto nell’universo fisico. Il loro originale
approccio alla materia trattata, che si esprime attraverso
suoni, cortometraggi e istallazioni multimediali, ha
procurato loro molti premi e prestigiose collaborazioni (Gulbenkian
Galapagos, Smithsonian artists Research e NASA Space
Sciences). I loro lavori fanno parte di numerose collezioni
internazionali e sono esposti in tutto il mondo inclusi la
Biennale di Venezia, la Royal Academy, l’Hirshhorn Musuem,
la BBC, l’ICA London e l’Exploratorium.

A team is at work dissecting what appears to be a simple
bush. The examination is carried out with such conviction
and reverence, towards something which is seemingly so
mundane, that the whole process appears quite absurd. The
focus becomes the actions and techniques employed; through
observation and simple measuring devices they document their
findings, communicating with subtle gestures, with only a
few numbers and mumbles exchanged. Sitting somewhere between
science documentary and fiction, this work reflects on how
we as humans construct methods to learn about physical world
around us.
Semiconductor is an artist duo (Ruth Jarman and Joe
Gerhardt) that explore the material nature of our world and
how we experience it, questioning our place in the physical
universe. Through short films, sound and multimedia
installations their unique approach has won them many awards
and prestigious fellowships such as the Gulbenkian
Galapagos, Smithsonian artists Research and the NASA Space
Sciences. Their work is part of several international
collections and is exhibited globally including Venice
Biennal, The Royal Academy, Hirshhorn Museum, BBC, ICA
London and the Exploratorium.

Non sappiamo molto del mondo nel quale le persone hanno
bisogno di frequentare i kinotel; sappiamo però che qualcosa
è cambiato nel modo di andare al Cinema. In questo mondo c’è
un rapporto totalmente interattivo fra lo spettatore e il
personaggio. Lo spettatore è totalmente coinvolto
emotivamente e, recitando una scena del film, raggiunge
l’identificazione totale con i personaggi rappresentati.
Questo modo personale ed interattivo di riciclare la storia
del cinema diventa un’esperienza fisica ed emozionale.
Questa è la storia di un uomo e di una donna che frequentano
un kinotel.
Christine Reeh è nata in
Germania nel 1974 e vive a Lisbona dal 1996. Si è diplomata
in montaggio e ha conseguito un master in regia presso la
Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. Inoltre si è laureata in
Estetica e Filosofia dell’Arte presso l’Università di
Lisbona. Ha prodotto e diretto diversi documentari d’arte,
apprezzati dalla critica e premiati. Lavora come regista,
montatrice e produttrice. Kinotel è il suo primo
cortometraggio di fiction.

We don’t know much about a world where people need to visit
a Kinotel. But we know that going to the cinema has changed.
Now it is a total interactive action between the viewer and
the characters, where one involves oneself emotionally to
make recordings of a filmed scene to reach the total
identification between viewer and represented character.
This interactive and personal way of recycling cinema
history becomes a special emotional and physical experience...
This is a short story of a man and a woman who visit a
Kinotel.
Christine Reeh was born
in Germany in 1974 and lives in Lisbon since 1996. B.A. in
Film Editing and M.A. in Film Directing, both at Escola
Superior de Teatro e Cinema. Mphil in Aesthetics and
Philosophy of Art at Lisbon’s University. Has produced and
directed several artistic documentary films, critically
acclaimed and awarded. Works as director, editor and
producer. Kinotel is her first fiction film.

The near future. Every night the media show new reports
about war and terror which constantly loom like a dark cloud
over the nation. To protect the citizens from possible air
attacks the GNOSIS Corporation has developed a personal bomb
shelter for everyone- the new BS- 2016. While nearly every
household in the city has one installed already, 12 years
old Alex is still begging his dad to finally buy one so he
can feel safe. As the air raid alarms go off that night and
lights from exploding rockets gloom in the dark skies it
seems too late: Alex has to face his fears and soon
discovers a dark conspiracy that not only threatens his life
but the life of his whole family as well.

In this dark parable mutated limbs are looking for
cooperation, but due to miscommunication this mission is
doomed to fail.
Floris Kaayk was born in
Tiel, the Netherlands (NL), in 1982. Currently living in The
Hague (NL). Choosing animation as his field of expertise,
Kaayk specialised in blending computer generated images with
live-action video to present his ideas. Kaayk’s distinctive
technique and style has been appointed as a new kind of
emerging genre.

David Kaplan vive a New
York e lavora come sceneggiatore e regista. Kaplan ha
diretto molti cortometraggi fra cui Little red riding

presentato in anteprima al Sundance Film Festival. Fra le
altre opere brevi che hanno ottenuto numerosi
riconoscimenti: Little Suck-a-Thumb, The Frog King

Imagines a not-too-distant future where video games have
become indistinguishable from reality. The players of these
strange game worlds must confront a new state of “playing”

David Kaplan is a writer/director
from New York City.
Kaplan has made several short films, including Little red
riding hood starring Christina Ricci and Quentin Crisp
which premiered at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. His
other award-winning shorts include Little Suck-a-Thumb,
The Frog King (1995 Sundance Film Festival) and
LoveDeath.
His latest film is Play, a collaboration with game
designer Eric Zimmerman. Play was commissioned by the
Independent Television Service (ITVS) for their ongoing
series FutureStates and won Best Short Film at the
2010 PiFan Fantastic Film Festival in South Korea.
Kaplan's first feature film Year of the Fish premiered at

La Natura è estinta, tutto ciò che è “fuori” è morto. Asha
vive in una comunità protetta dal mondo esterno creata dal
Consiglio di Maitu e lavora come curatrice in un museo. Un
giorno Asha riceve una scatola contenente della terra in cui
lei pianta un vecchio seme che comincia immediatamente a
germogliare. Asha chiede al Consiglio il permesso di
investigare le possibilità di vita nel mondo di fuori, ma il
Consiglio le nega la possibilità di uscire. Asha scappa
dalla comunità per andare nel mondo esterno, dove tutto è
morto e abbandonato, per piantare fuori il seme, con la
speranza di trovare la vita.
Wanuri Kahiu. Nel 2008
Wanuri realizza il suo primo lungometraggio From A
Whisper basato sugli avvenimenti accaduti il 7 Agosto
1998 quando due bombe esplosero contemporaneamente
nell’Ambasciata Americana a Nairobi e a Dar es Salaam.
Recentemente il film ha vinto diversi premi agli Academy
Awards africani, tra cui Miglior Regista e Miglior Film, il
Golden Dhow award per il Miglior Film Africano dell’Est allo
Zanzibar International Film Festival e Miglior Film al
Kalasha Film and TV awards in Kenya. Nel 2009 ha realizzato
For Our Land, un documentario sulla vita del Nobel
per la Pace Wangari Maathai e il cortometraggio di
fantascienza Pumzi che è stato co-prodotto da Focus

Nature is extinct. The outside is dead. Asha lives and works
as a museum curator in one of the indoor communities set up
by the Maitu Council. When she receives a box in the mail
containing soil, she plants an old seed in it and the seed
starts to germinate instantly. Asha appeals to the Council
to grant her permission to investigate the possibility of
life on the outside but the Council denies her exit visa.
Asha breaks out of the inside community to go into the dead
and derelict outside to plant the growing seedling and
possibly find life on the outside.
Wanuri Kahiu. In 2008,
Wanuri completed her first feature film From A Whisper
based on the real life events surrounding the August 7,
twin bombings of US Embassies in Nairobi and Dar es Salaam
in 1998. The film recently won awards at the Africa Movie
Academy Awards including Best Director and Best Picture, the
Golden Dhow award for Best East African Picture at Zanzibar
International Film Festival and Best Film at Kalasha, Kenya
Film and TV awards. Shortly after she completed a
documentary about the life of Nobel peace Prize laureate
Wangari Maathai entitled For Our Land (2009). She has
recently completed a short Science Fiction Film Pumzi
(2009) that was partially funded by Focus Features, Goethe
Institut and Changa Moto Fund in Kenya.

In un cinema stanno proiettando un B movie. Gli spettatori
sembrano affascinati. Sullo schermo, il capitano di una

creature provenienti dall’ignoto spazio profondo.
Vincent Diderot è nato a Toulouse (Francia) nel 1980.
Dopo la laurea in Arti Visive e dello Spettacolo, decide di
abbandonare l’università per dedicarsi pienamente alla
realizzazione di cortometraggi. Influenzato sia dall’arte
che dal cinema, sceglie per i suoi primi cortometraggi
Louise e Sirène il genere sperimentale. Il terzo
cortometraggio, La Révélation, più narrativo, viene
selezionato in numerosi festival di cinema di fantascienza
sia in Francia che all’estero. Vincent Diderot si divide
attualmente tra la direzione di video clip per importanti
etichette discografiche e cortometraggi per Ad Astra Films.

In a theater a B movie is playing. The viewers seem
captivated. On the screen, a spaceship captain is telling
the world he has met people from outer space.
Vincent Diderot was born in Toulouse (France) in
1980. After graduating in visual and performing Arts, he
quits University to devote himself to short films directing.
Influenced by painters (Pollock, Basquiat, Bacon), as well
as by film directors (Lynch, Kubrick, Burton, Gilliam), his
first two short films, Louise and Sirène, are experimental.
His third film , The revelation (2008), more narrative, will
be a success in France and abroad (Lund Fantastic Festival,
FANTASIA in Montreal, Trouville), mainly thanks to his
fine-worked scenery and atmosphere. Vincent Diderot
currently shares his time between movie clips for renowned
record labels and movie projects for Ad Astra Films.

Michael Venus è nato a

Michael Venus was born
in Jena, East Germany, in 1976. He studied visual
communication at the Bauhaus University Weimar and in 2003
he graduated as a designer with the film Tilt. Between 2005
and 2006 he worked as a producer at the channel for children
KIKA. Currently he’s a directing student at the Hamburg
Media School.
